Beach Art

A line in the sand - on our beach walk, Stephan always marks our end point with a line.

The fleet at Bayfield just added a brand new glass bottom boat called the Superior Princess.  Viewing shipwrecks just got easier.

Friday night found us back at the Big Top Tent for Ladies of the Canyon - songs of Janis Joplin, Mama Cass, Joni Mitchell, Carole King, Stevie Nicks, Linda Ronstadt, Dusty Springfield - I really don't think that 40 years from now, our kids will be gathering to hear the best of the hip-hop era.  Maybe I'm wrong?

Big Top Chautauqua - Moon Songs and Moon Shadows
The songs of Cat Stevens and Paul Simon - we're living in the past and loving every minute.
There is so much talent in the resident Blue Canvas Orchestra and then they add a few guests and the whole tent is rockin'.  "Kodachrome" was the third song and my night was complete!

We have never seen blossoms come directly (no stem) from leaves like this before.  Anybody know what this shrub might be called?

Today the wildflower bouquet is in honor of and sheer joy in the SCOTUS healthcare decision.

And the level of the LAKE rises!

Look at the entry on June 11th.  This is the exact same stump in the water.  The northern parts of Wisconsin and Minnesota  had lots of rain in the past week causing the level of Lake Superior to rise several inches.

One enormous toadstool here on the beach road

We are back - Feet in the Water

W.C. Clark at Big Top Chautauqua singing Texas blues

A Day at the Beach - Bayview Road Beach

Monday, June 4, 2012

The Madeline Island ferry was about to be put into service at the Washburn Marina this morning.
It travels between Bayfield and Madeline Island all summer long.  There are usually two ferries in service.

The monarch butterflies areso plentiful this spring, feasting on the new growth of milkweed plants.

WARNING.......MORE LUPINE PICTURES AHEAD!!

From the morning's walk along the path overlooking THE LAKE.

All along Highway 13, Bayfield County - these lupines are just beautiful!

Washburn coal dock.  The city plans a wonderful park here someday if the $$ come around.

Today Washburn Marina dedicated a new seawall with several mooring spots.
The ice is so hard on this wall every year.  Maybe this one will last a while.

The U.S. Coast Guard came to show off a new boat.  It has engines by Rolls Royce, goes 50 MPH, and has more gadgets than any sailor should ever need.

 Bayview Beach
The Mister proclaimed this "the best day yet"!  And that's sayin' something!
